The Bay Pines VA Medical Center, officially known as the C.W. Bill Young Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, is a significant healthcare facility for veterans in West Central and Southwest Florida. While often associated with the general Pinellas County beach area, it is specifically located in Bay Pines, Florida, a community situated between St. Petersburg and Madeira Beach. This large campus, set on 337 acres along the Gulf of Mexico, has a rich history, with its first building constructed in 1933 in the Mediterranean Revival style. The center provides a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, psychiatric, and extended care services, including specialty care, mental health support, and rehabilitation programs, serving over 108,000 veterans annually across its main medical center and several community-based outpatient clinics. It is one of the few VA medical centers that also has a VA Regional Office and a National Cemetery on its campus.
